Workshop Supervisor – Heavy Equipment Maintenance

About the role

The Workshop Supervisor will lead the planning, supervision and optimisation of maintenance, repair and overhaul activities for heavy construction, marine and workshop equipment. The role ensures maximum safety, reliability and operational availability of a wide range of plant machinery and mobile assets.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily workshop activities for heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, dump trucks, bulldozers and loaders.
• Plan and execute preventive, predictive, corrective and breakdown maintenance programmes.
• Oversee servicing of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, axles, pumps, compressors and generators.
• Coordinate fabrication, welding, machining, line boring and structural repairs to OEM specifications.
• Lead, mentor and manage mechanics, electricians, hydraulic technicians, welders and support staff.
• Ensure compliance with HSE policies, Permit‑to‑Work systems and safe working procedures.
• Allocate manpower, tools, lifting equipment and schedule resources to meet project requirements.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis of equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain spare‑parts inventory, approve work orders and ensure CMMS documentation is up‑to‑date.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising workshop teams in a heavy‑equipment environment.
• Strong knowledge of HSE standards, PTW processes and risk assessments.
• Ability to plan resources, manage schedules and coordinate with operations, procurement and project teams.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and a focus on continuous improvement.
