Assistant Principal – Pastoral (School Leadership)

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Principal – Pastoral to join Yas American Academy in Abu Dhabi, starting August 2026. Reporting to the Principal and Vice‑Principal, you will help ensure a safe, supportive learning environment and drive student achievement in line with Aldar Education and ADEK standards.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and quality‑assure staff and student activities, ensuring a safe, orderly environment conducive to learning.
• Support and administer the annual school assessment and monitoring master schedule in collaboration with the senior leadership team and department heads.
• Supervise and evaluate teachers, supervisors, and curriculum support staff as assigned.
• Lead screening, interviewing, and recommendation of applicants for both teaching and non‑teaching positions.
• Implement student achievement improvement plans aligned with the school development plan and ADEK regulations, including school improvement plans, standardized testing, remediation, data collection, and reporting.
• Direct the MAP/Exact Path student achievement plan, develop a progress‑based testing schedule, and oversee assessment processes, data collection, student records, and archiving.
• Collaborate with the senior leadership team on new or changing instructional methods, materials, strategies, and programs.
• Assist in planning and delivering staff professional development to enhance teaching quality and efficiency.
• Ensure timely completion and submission of all required reports, forms, and data requests.

Required profile

• Strong alignment with Aldar Education’s core values and a genuine appreciation of regional cultural values.
• Deep understanding of UAE educational regulations (ADEK) and the Massachusetts Common Core Curriculum.
• Proven experience in school leadership, pastoral care, and driving student achievement improvement.
• Ability to work collaboratively with senior leaders, staff, and external stakeholders.
• Excellent organizational and data‑management capabilities.

Required skills

• Experience with MAP/Exact Path assessment tools.
• Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
• Knowledge of school improvement planning and standardized testing processes.
