Internal Audit Consultant – Energy & Utilities

About the role

Protiviti is seeking a Consultant or Senior Consultant to lead internal audit engagements within the Energy & Utilities practice. The role focuses on delivering risk‑based audit plans, assessing control frameworks, and supporting clients in the oil & gas sector.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and evaluate client risk areas across major processes and contribute to the development of a risk‑based annual audit plan.
• Plan, organize, direct, and execute internal audit engagements, ensuring quality deliverables and adherence to timelines and budgets.
• Establish and document audit frameworks, including reporting templates, audit calendars, and functional procedures.
• Manage audit assignments for various business units, pinpoint weaknesses, and recommend improvements to processes, controls, and compliance.
• Follow up on implementation of audit recommendations with business heads.
• Develop risk management frameworks and executive action plans.
• Prepare audit programs, risk & control matrices, and perform audit procedures.
• Communicate findings through written reports and presentations to senior management, audit committees, and boards.
• Support business development by identifying new service opportunities, preparing proposals, and nurturing client relationships.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of internal audit methodologies and risk‑based auditing.
• Experience managing audit engagements in the energy or oil & gas sector.
• Ability to work independently and lead teams across multiple client projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting to senior stakeholders.
• Proven track record in developing audit frameworks and driving process improvements.
