Java Backend Engineer

About the role

Vantari is recruiting on behalf of an advanced‑technology client in Abu Dhabi for a senior Java Backend Engineer. You will join a high‑performance team developing backend software for next‑generation cellular and secure communication systems in a distributed, performance‑critical environment.

Key responsibilities

• Research, design and develop cutting‑edge cellular communication solutions using Kotlin, Java, Akka, Gradle, GitLab and Docker.
• Design backend systems based on Domain‑Driven Design, reactive architectures and actor‑based models.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, including unit, integration and end‑to‑end testing.
• Develop scalable, message‑based, high‑performance services.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects and product managers to deliver robust technical solutions.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and work within Agile, multidisciplinary teams.

Required profile

• BSc or equivalent in Computer Science or a related field.
• 10+ years of professional experience in Java and Kotlin development.
• Self‑directed with strong planning and execution capabilities.
• Team player comfortable in Agile environments.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and debugging skills.
• Upper‑intermediate spoken and written English.
• Eligibility to obtain security clearance for sensitive programs.
