Lead Wind Turbine Design Engineer

About the role

The Lead Wind Turbine Design Engineer acts as the subject‑matter expert for wind turbine technology on utility‑scale projects. You will ensure that turbine selection, procurement, installation and operation are performed safely, cost‑effectively and with maximum reliability and energy yield.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct technical due‑diligence of turbine models to verify suitability for site‑specific wind class, turbulence and grid requirements.
• Review and validate turbine design documents, load calculations and certification reports (IEC, DNV‑GL, TUV, UL).
• Optimize turbine layout in collaboration with the resource‑assessment team.
• Support bid evaluation of OEM proposals and assess LCOE impact of turbine selection.
• Negotiate and review Turbine Supply Agreements, Long‑Term Service Agreements and warranty terms.
• Provide guidance during turbine installation, commissioning and performance validation.
• Analyze vibration, noise, thermal management and SCADA alarms to ensure reliability.
• Perform reliability engineering analyses such as MTBF/MTTR, FMEA and root‑cause analysis.

Required profile

• Extensive experience with large‑scale wind turbine design and integration.
• Strong knowledge of rotor aerodynamics, structural mechanics and turbine subsystems.
• Proficiency in wind resource assessment and power‑curve verification.
• Familiarity with grid‑code compliance, generator and power‑converter design.
• Understanding of IEC standards and international certification bodies.
• Experience in reliability engineering and performance analysis.
