Shoe & Bag Cleaning & Repair Technician

About the role

The Shoe & Bag Cleaning & Repair Technician is responsible for restoring and maintaining the appearance of footwear and handbags made from a variety of materials. The role ensures that every item is returned to the customer in excellent condition, combining meticulous cleaning, polishing, and minor repairs.

Key responsibilities

• Clean, deodorize, and condition leather, suede, nubuck, canvas, fabric and other materials.
• Polish shoes and bags to restore shine using appropriate creams, waxes and conditioners.
• Identify material types and select suitable cleaning products and techniques.
• Perform minor repairs such as re‑gluing soles, stitching, lace replacement, hardware adjustments, zipper replacement and stretching.
• Assess stains and apply correct stain‑removal methods and chemicals.
• Operate and maintain cleaning equipment, grinders, sewing machines, presses and other repair tools.
• Document services performed, materials used and customer instructions.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organized workstation and manage inventory of supplies.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year experience in shoe or bag cleaning, polishing or repair.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high‑quality workmanship.
• Good communication and customer‑service skills.
• Physical stamina for prolonged standing and hands‑on work.

Required skills

• Knowledge of leather, suede, nubuck, canvas and fabric care requirements.
• Use of cleaning agents, creams, waxes, conditioners and stain‑removal chemicals.
• Operation of shoe repair machinery (grinders, sewing machines, presses).
• Basic repair techniques: re‑gluing, stitching, hardware adjustment, zipper replacement.
