Fire Truck Operator

About the role

The Fire Truck Operator is responsible for driving fire vehicles to emergency scenes and operating all fire‑fighting and rescue equipment in line with the incident leader’s directions. The role ensures the vehicle and its apparatus are always ready, safe, and functional for rapid response.

Key responsibilities

• Standby in an alert condition and respond immediately to fire, oil‑spill, or other emergencies.
• Drive fire trucks and other emergency vehicles to incident sites safely and efficiently.
• Operate fire‑pump systems, foam/water/DCP monitors, and mechanical rescue equipment during incidents.
• Assist fire‑rescue teams with first‑aid provision and transport of injured personnel.
• Conduct daily inspections, routine maintenance, and performance testing of fire trucks and all firefighting equipment.
• Maintain accurate records of vehicle registration, licensing, and equipment checks.
• Participate in HSE drills, training sessions, and support activities such as road‑closure permits.
• Perform basic upkeep tasks such as hose washing, tank refilling, and equipment replenishment.

Required profile

• Physically fit and able to remain on standby for rapid deployment.
• Strong attention to safety procedures and ability to follow incident leader instructions.
• Capability to perform regular inspections, documentation, and basic vehicle maintenance.
• Willingness to engage in continuous training and emergency drills.

Required skills

• Operation of fire trucks and emergency response vehicles.
• Fire‑pump and foam/water/DCP system operation.
• Use of mechanical rescue equipment (e.g., monitors, hydraulic tools).
• Conducting fire‑pump and equipment performance tests.
• Maintenance and basic repair of firefighting apparatus.
• First‑aid provision and emergency medical assistance.
