Founding Designer

About the role

Garage is building a marketplace that lets local governments buy and sell equipment, from radios to fire trucks. As the Founding Designer you will shape and grow the design function across both brand and product, reporting directly to the founders and CTO.

Key responsibilities

• Own the visual design of end‑to‑end buyer and seller experiences on the marketplace.
• Create compelling sales and marketing assets, including static graphics and video, for nationwide audiences.
• Collaborate closely with marketing and engineering to ship high‑fidelity designs.
• Engage with customers, leverage data and research, and iterate continuously to improve user experiences.
• Help build and scale the design team as the company grows.

Required profile

• A creative designer comfortable in a fast‑moving, high‑performance startup environment.
• Strong expertise in UX with deep understanding of user flows, interaction design, and usability.
• Sharp eye for visual design and meticulous attention to detail.
• Willingness and ability to work on‑site in New York City.
