Senior Lawyer – Middle East

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Lawyer to support BYD’s operations in Saudi Arabia and the broader Middle East. The role combines commercial, corporate, labor and data‑privacy legal work, ensuring compliance with local regulations while protecting the company’s interests.

Key responsibilities

• Handle legal matters related to Saudi distributors and review commercial agreements to safeguard company interests.
• Participate in day‑to‑day legal activities and operational management of BYD’s Saudi subsidiaries.
• Manage employment contracts and ensure full compliance with the Kingdom’s Labor Law, preferably with experience using the Qiwa platform.
• Coordinate with external law firms on regulatory issues, focusing on the Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) and other compliance frameworks.
• Monitor legislative updates, interpret new policies and advise on their impact on business operations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized Middle‑East university.
• Minimum 2 years of legal experience in an in‑house corporate role or law firm, preferably in the automotive or high‑tech sectors.
• Professional proficiency in English and Arabic, with the ability to draft and review documents and communicate with authorities.
• Willingness to relocate to Saudi Arabia or be a national of a Middle‑East country.

Required skills

• Practical knowledge of data compliance, import/export controls and unfair competition laws in Saudi Arabia and the region.
• Familiarity with the Qiwa system for labor‑law compliance.
