Staff Software Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to own and evolve the backend platform infrastructure that powers a new multi‑sector AI programme in Abu Dhabi. This senior individual‑contributor role focuses on building the event‑driven, distributed systems and cloud tooling that AI engineering teams will rely on.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain the backend platform for the AI factory.
• Own the event‑driven architecture using technologies such as Kafka, Azure Service Bus and Azure Event Hubs.
• Build and operate distributed systems, APIs, deployment pipelines and cloud operational tooling.
• Lead architectural decisions at scale to ensure reliability, performance and security.
• Collaborate closely with AI engineering teams to provide a robust foundation for their solutions.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in backend or platform engineering.
• Current staff or principal‑level experience leading large‑scale architectural initiatives.
• Proven track record designing event‑driven systems and deployment platforms.

Required skills

• Strong programming skills in Python or Java.
• Hands‑on experience with Kafka, Azure Service Bus or Azure Event Hubs.
• Deep knowledge of distributed systems, APIs and cloud operational tooling.
