Accounting Manager – Landscaping & Construction

About the role

The Accounting Manager will oversee financial operations across multiple entities within the landscaping, contracting and construction sectors. This role ensures accuracy, compliance and efficiency in accounting, cash management, reporting and taxation while supporting strategic business decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor project‑wise profitability, compare actual costs to budgets and Bills of Quantities, and analyse material, subcontractor and labour variances.
• Oversee progressive billing, issue invoices and Interim Payment Certificates, approve sales invoices and reconcile customer statements, advances and AR balances.
• Validate subcontractor payment applications, variations and back‑charges; reconcile vendor accounts and manage retention payables.
• Supervise site and nursery inventory counts, monitor Work‑in‑Progress balances and prepare WIP schedules and reconciliations.
• Manage cash flow, authorise withdrawals, conduct treasury spot checks and oversee bank account openings, reconciliations and banking relationships.
• Record and allocate utility, machinery and vehicle expenses, including fuel, maintenance, insurance and driver costs.
• Track fixed assets from acquisition to depreciation, maintain schedules and ensure proper capitalization.

Required profile

• Proven accounting experience in landscaping, contracting or construction environments.
• Strong understanding of project costing, progressive billing and WIP accounting.
• Experience with cash management, bank reconciliations and vendor/payable processes.
• Knowledge of tax compliance and financial reporting standards.
