Area Manager – Business Banking

About the role

The Area Manager – Liability Business Banking leads the strategic and commercial direction of a large Business Banking liability portfolio of 2,200‑3,000 high‑value client accounts. The role is accountable for business growth, revenue, profitability, risk, compliance, customer experience, operational effectiveness and people leadership across multiple Emirates.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the area’s annual business plan aligned with the overall Business Banking strategy.
• Drive revenue, profitability, portfolio growth, client acquisition, retention and product penetration targets.
• Optimize the asset‑liability mix and deepen relationships to increase share of wallet.
• Ensure rigorous risk, compliance and governance adherence, including AML/KYC standards.
• Lead, coach and develop a team of Relationship Managers and Assistant Relationship Managers.
• Promote digital banking adoption and collaborate with product, risk, operations and transformation teams.
• Provide market and competitor intelligence to shape product development and pricing.
• Maintain strong stakeholder relationships with internal functions, industry bodies and key clients.

Required profile

• 15+ years of progressive experience in Business or Commercial Banking with strong liability product knowledge.
• Proven track record of delivering revenue and portfolio growth in a high‑value client environment.
• Significant experience leading and developing relationship‑management teams.
• Demonstrated ability to operate within robust risk, compliance and governance frameworks.
• Excellent strategic judgment, resilience and stakeholder management skills.
