Assistant Head of English

About the role

The Grammar School Dubai is seeking an Assistant Head of English to support the delivery of high‑quality English instruction and to help drive pupil progress across the department. This senior teaching position combines curriculum leadership with pastoral responsibilities in a vibrant, multicultural environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, prepare and deliver engaging English lessons for diverse ability groups.
• Use assessment data to set challenging targets, monitor progress and inform teaching strategies.
• Develop teaching materials, programmes and pastoral arrangements aligned with school standards.
• Provide regular, constructive feedback and accurate marking to support student self‑reflection.
• Oversee examination arrangements and ensure compliance with the teachers’ manual.
• Foster a safe, respectful classroom environment using consistent discipline strategies.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to report on student outcomes for inspections and board reviews.

Required profile

• Qualified teacher with experience teaching English at secondary level.
• Demonstrated ability to support pupils with special educational needs, EAL, gifted and talented learners.
• Strong understanding of literacy standards and spoken English proficiency.
• Proven track record of improving pupil attainment through data‑driven instruction.
