About the role
The Assistant Manager will lead Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) and internal audit engagements for public‑sector and government‑related clients of KPMG Middle East. Based in Abu Dhabi, the role combines project delivery, client advisory and team development responsibilities.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and deliver GRC and internal audit projects for public‑sector entities, managing planning, fieldwork, quality reviews and reporting.
- Serve as the primary client contact, ensuring timely delivery of high‑quality outputs and preparing executive‑level reports and presentations.
- Design and assess governance frameworks, policies and operating models aligned with best practices.
- Support enterprise risk management initiatives, including risk assessments, registers and appetite frameworks.
- Conduct internal control reviews and advise on compliance with local regulations, government mandates and international standards (e.g., COSO, IIA).
- Assist public‑sector transformation programmes, interpreting UAE/GCC regulations and developing ethics, delegation and performance‑monitoring frameworks.
- Supervise, coach and review work of associates and senior associates, contributing to resource planning and workload management.
- Support business development by drafting proposals, methodologies, work plans and pricing inputs, and identifying new opportunities within public‑sector accounts.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Risk Management or a related field; Master’s (MBA) is an advantage.
- Professional certifications such as CIA, CISA, CRISC, CGEIT, CPA or ACCA are preferred; ISO certifications (e.g., ISO 31000, ISO 27001) are a plus.
- 6–8 years of experience in GRC, risk advisory, internal audit or consulting, preferably with public‑sector or government clients.
- Prior experience in a professional services or Big‑4 advisory environment is highly desirable.
- Fluent English (written and spoken); Arabic strongly preferred for client interactions.
Required skills
- Strong understanding of governance, risk management and compliance frameworks.
- Knowledge of public‑sector operating models and regulatory environments.
- Excellent stakeholder management, analytical, report‑writing and presentation abilities.
- Leadership mindset with the capability to mentor junior team members.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
