Charge Nurse – Tower B8 (Medical Wing)

About the role

The Charge Nurse for Tower B8 in the Medical Wing at SSMC oversees daily operations, ensures smooth patient flow and coordinates staff schedules, assignments and patient care within the unit.

Key responsibilities

• Manage overall daily operations and patient flow in the clinical area.
• Coordinate administrative duties such as staff schedules, assignments and resource allocation.
• Delegate assignments and supervise support staff according to training level and patient acuity.
• Monitor staff performance, provide feedback, coaching and guidance throughout the shift.
• Ensure appropriate staffing and skill mix in collaboration with the Nurse Manager/Supervisor.
• Administer medications and collaborate with pharmacy services to meet unit medication needs.
• Participate in emergency response according to organizational policies.
• Facilitate communication between patients, families and the interdisciplinary health‑care team.
• Conduct comprehensive clinical handovers and attend patient care rounds.
• Coordinate referrals and discharge planning to ensure timely interventions.

Required profile

• Demonstrated competence in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care.
• Ability to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to deliver patient‑ and family‑centered care.
• Strong knowledge of health‑care systems and ethical standards.
• Experience supervising, coaching and supporting a diverse multidisciplinary workforce.
• Capability to manage human resources, consumables and equipment efficiently.
• Commitment to uphold the mission, vision and values of SSMC.
