Cloud Engineering Manager

About the role

EGA is creating its first dedicated cloud engineering function. The Cloud Engineering Manager will act as the primary cloud authority, defining strategy, architecture, and engineering foundations while building a small team to drive the transition from on‑premises to a secure, governed Azure cloud environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assess the current infrastructure landscape, Azure footprint, SaaS portfolio and on‑premises data centre to establish a baseline for cloud adoption.
• Define EGA’s cloud strategy and migration roadmap, including workload prioritisation, target architecture patterns, phasing, dependencies and cost implications.
• Establish cloud architecture principles, reference patterns and guardrails across IaaS, PaaS and SaaS to ensure secure, supportable designs.
• Provide approved cloud patterns for hosting, integration, identity, security logging, networking and disaster recovery.
• Lead end‑to‑end migration of workloads from on‑premises (including VMware) to Azure using Azure Migrate and Azure Site Recovery.
• Perform workload discovery, dependency mapping, migration wave planning, cut‑over sequencing, rollback planning and post‑migration validation.
• Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to optimise workloads for cloud operation rather than simple lift‑and‑shift.

Required profile

• Deep technical expertise in cloud engineering combined with a progressive leadership mandate.
• Proven ability to act as a cloud authority, defining strategy and guiding teams.
• Experience building and leading a small engineering team.
• Understanding of UAE data residency requirements influencing architectural decisions.
