Consultant Multi-Organ Transplant Surgeon – Liver Focus

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Consultant Multi‑Organ Transplant Surgeon with a primary focus on liver transplantation to join a leading healthcare institution in Abu Dhabi. The role involves delivering high‑quality surgical care, overseeing pre‑ and post‑operative management, and contributing to the growth of a world‑class transplant program.

Key responsibilities

• Perform living‑donor and deceased‑donor liver transplant surgeries.
• Participate in kidney, pancreas and other abdominal organ transplant procedures as needed.
• Manage complex hepatobiliary (HPB) surgical cases.
• Provide comprehensive pre‑ and post‑transplant patient care.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary transplant teams and take part in organ procurement and on‑call services.
• Lead quality‑improvement initiatives and contribute to teaching, research and program development.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBBS/MD or equivalent) and accredited General Surgery residency.
• Fellowship in Abdominal Organ Transplant Surgery and/or Hepatobiliary (HPB) Surgery.
• Board certification in General Surgery; transplant surgery certification highly desirable.
• 5–10 years of post‑fellowship consultant‑level experience with proven expertise in liver transplantation.
• Experience in complex HPB surgery and, preferably, kidney or pancreas transplantation.

Required skills

• Advanced expertise in liver transplant surgery.
• Excellent microsurgical and vascular anastomosis skills.
