Consultant Neurosurgeon – Functional Neurosurgery (Abu Dhabi)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and highly qualified Consultant Neurosurgeon specializing in Functional Neurosurgery to join our multidisciplinary neuroscience team in Abu Dhabi. The role involves comprehensive evaluation, surgical management, and long‑term care for patients with complex neurological disorders requiring functional neurosurgical interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose and manage patients needing functional neurosurgical procedures for movement disorders, epilepsy, chronic pain, spasticity and related conditions.
• Perform advanced functional neurosurgery including Deep Brain Stimulation, lesioning, spinal cord stimulation, vagus nerve stimulation and other neuromodulation therapies.
• Conduct pre‑operative assessments and determine patient suitability through multidisciplinary case discussions.
• Utilize intra‑operative planning, neuronavigation, stereotactic and image‑guided techniques.
• Provide post‑operative care, follow‑up assessments and manage complications.
• Participate in multidisciplinary clinics, case conferences, tumor boards and departmental meetings.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and operative reports.
• Supervise and mentor junior neurosurgeons, residents, fellows and medical students.
• Contribute to quality improvement, research, publications and academic teaching.

Required profile

• Board‑certified neurosurgeon with a focus on functional neurosurgery.
• Minimum eight years (96 months) of relevant clinical experience.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Experience in on‑call duties and managing complex surgical cases.
