Consultant Pediatric Ophthalmologist – Strabismus (UAE Private)

About the role

The Consultant Pediatric Ophthalmologist (Strabismus) will deliver high‑volume outpatient care and advanced strabismus surgery for children in a private‑sector clinic in Abu Dhabi. The role demands a Western‑trained, Tier‑1 consultant with strong clinical and surgical expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage pediatric ophthalmic conditions including esotropia, exotropia, vertical deviations, amblyopia and congenital eye disorders.
• Perform high‑precision strabismus surgeries (horizontal and vertical muscle procedures, re‑operations, adjustable sutures where trained).
• Conduct pediatric clinics, orthoptic assessments and comprehensive pre‑ and post‑operative care.
• Collaborate with orthoptists, optometrists, anesthesiologists and pediatric teams to optimise patient pathways.
• Maintain accurate EMR documentation and uphold infection‑control and clinical‑governance standards.

Required profile

• Tier‑1 qualification: UK CCT/CESR, US Board Certification, Canadian RCPSC Fellowship, Irish CSCST, Australian FRANZCO, or German Facharzt with paediatric focus.
• 3–5 years post‑consultant experience in paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus, with a high surgical case volume.
• Eligibility for DHA, DOH or MOHAP consultant licence and completion of DataFlow PSV.
• Experience in private practice is an advantage.
