Consultant Physician – Child & Adolescent Psychiatry

About the role

The Consultant Physician in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry leads the delivery of high‑quality, evidence‑based mental health care for young patients. The role combines clinical excellence with leadership, overseeing junior medical staff and ensuring safe, holistic treatment across inpatient and outpatient settings.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, manage and treat children and adolescents according to best‑practice standards.
• Supervise and mentor junior medical staff, reviewing their clinical decisions.
• Lead ward rounds, reassess patients regularly, and document care promptly.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and coordinate with other specialties.
• Ensure appropriate use of resources, follow hospital policies on admissions, consultations, procedures and discharge.
• Provide on‑call coverage on a rotational basis, including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
• Communicate clinical information to patients, families and caregivers with consent.
• Assist the Division Chief with scheduling, recruitment and administrative duties.

Required profile

• Qualified medical doctor with specialist training in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.
• Demonstrated clinical excellence and ability to lead a multidisciplinary team.
• Experience supervising junior staff and delivering both inpatient and outpatient care.
• Commitment to adhering to hospital policies and continuous quality improvement.
