About the role

The Consultant Physician in Gastroenterology will lead the delivery of high‑quality, evidence‑based care for patients at Al Rahba Hospital. This senior medical professional will diagnose, manage and treat a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions while serving as a clinical role model for junior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert gastroenterology care, ensuring adherence to best‑practice standards.
• Lead and supervise junior medical staff, overseeing their clinical activities and offering training.
• Participate in performance management processes, including peer review and productivity assessments.
• Assist the Division Chief with scheduling, recruitment, and ensuring continuous medical coverage.
• Conduct ward rounds, reassess in‑patients and out‑patients, and document clinical information promptly.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary meetings and liaise with other specialties for comprehensive patient care.
• Prepare patients for procedures, obtain informed consent, and manage referrals from various sources.
• Provide out‑of‑hours on‑call coverage on a rotational basis.

Required profile

• Board‑certified or equivalent qualification in Gastroenterology.
• Demonstrated clinical excellence and ability to lead a specialist team.
• Experience in supervising and training junior physicians.
• Willingness to engage in administrative duties and support departmental initiatives.
