Day Technician – Finishing

About the role

The Day Technician – Finishing is responsible for maintaining and overhauling equipment in the Finishing Section of a steel plant. The role ensures high‑quality work, safety compliance, and minimal production downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and overhauling activities across the Finishing Section.
• Execute scheduled corrective maintenance and major repairs to optimise production.
• Troubleshoot mechanical equipment during shutdowns and assist in root‑cause analysis.
• Report any equipment abnormalities to supervisors for planning and rectification.
• Verify the availability of tools and tackles before work.
• Inspect equipment to meet engineering and safety standards.
• Support the Senior Technician in all technical tasks and act as the senior technician when required.
• Follow mechanical maintenance standards and health, safety, and environmental policies.

Required profile

• ITI qualification in Mechanical Fitter trade.
• 3‑5 years of experience in mechanical maintenance within a steel plant.
• Technical knowledge of predictive and preventive maintenance.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical problems.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and hydraulic circuits.
