Dean of Students – Full‑time

About the role

The Dean of Students at Ignite School is a full‑time, on‑site leader responsible for fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where learners thrive academically, socially, and personally. Reporting to senior school leadership, the Dean works closely with students, families, and staff to uphold the school’s values and ensure consistent student wellbeing practices.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and oversee student behaviour, discipline, and restorative practices.
• Monitor attendance, conduct, and overall student welfare on a daily basis.
• Provide counselling support and pastoral care to learners and families.
• Coordinate student leadership initiatives, extracurricular activities, and community‑engagement events.
• Collaborate with teachers, counsellors, and administrators to align student life with academic goals.
• Ensure compliance with safeguarding policies and relevant regulations.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in student affairs, pastoral care, or related educational leadership.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding principles and conflict‑resolution techniques.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to model and promote the school’s vision and values consistently.

Required skills

• Proficiency with student information systems.
• Experience in conflict‑resolution and problem‑solving within an educational setting.
