Demi Chef de Partie

About the role

The Demi Chef de Partie supports the kitchen team by preparing special meals, managing temperature controls on ovens and grills, and ensuring food is portioned, arranged, and garnished to high standards. This role also involves maintaining food logs, monitoring quality and quantity, and communicating with service staff about menu specials and stock levels.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare special meals and substitute items according to recipes and quality standards.
• Regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters.
• Thaw frozen items in refrigeration and ensure proper portioning and garnish.
• Maintain food logs and monitor food quality and quantity.
• Inform chefs and service staff of excess items, specials, and out‑of‑stock menu items.
• Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling, and employee coaching.

Required profile

• Technical, trade or vocational school degree.
• At least 3 years of related culinary experience.
• No prior supervisory experience required.
• No specific license or certification required.

Required skills

• Operating ovens, broilers, grills and roasters.
• Food preparation and cooking according to recipes and quality standards.
• Preparing cold foods and maintaining proper food safety practices.
