Deputy Chief Nursing Officer – Inpatient Services

About the role

Reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer, the Deputy Chief Nursing Officer – Inpatient Services provides professional and operational nursing leadership across inpatient services, ensuring safe, high‑quality, evidence‑based, patient‑centered care. The role collaborates with nursing, medical, allied health and operational teams to meet the organisation’s strategic, clinical, operational and financial objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and promote evidence‑based nursing and midwifery practice in line with Dubai Health Authority and UAE Nursing and Midwifery Council standards.
• Oversee inpatient clinical operations, including patient flow, bed utilisation, admissions, transfers and discharges, ensuring appropriate staffing and skill mix.
• Develop and implement workforce strategies to reduce vacancies, improve retention and support career development.
• Monitor patient experience and service excellence, addressing feedback and driving continuous improvement.
• Manage budgetary and financial aspects of inpatient services, controlling costs and supporting resource planning.
• Track performance indicators and KPIs, leading service improvement and innovation initiatives.

Required profile

• UAE DHA licence, Bachelor’s degree in nursing and registration as a Registered Nurse from Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand (or equivalent).
• Minimum 10 years progressive nursing experience, with at least 5 years in a senior nursing leadership/management role responsible for inpatient clinical services.
• Recent experience (within the last two years) in a comparable inpatient service environment.
• Master’s level qualification or relevant postgraduate studies desirable.
