Deputy Head of Secondary – Abu Dhabi

About the role

GEMS Education is seeking an experienced Deputy Head of Secondary to support the school’s vision, mission and academic standards in Abu Dhabi. The role involves strategic and day‑to‑day management of the secondary school, working closely with the Principal and senior leadership team.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Head of Secondary in leading the secondary team, including performance management.
• Develop and monitor policies, curricula and academic targets aligned with GEMS Core Values and UAE National Agenda.
• Manage staff resources, budgets and teaching duties as delegated by the Principal.
• Oversee behaviour and learning strategies, ensuring a positive school culture.
• Communicate regularly with parents and the wider community to promote the school’s vision.

Required profile

• Demonstrated leadership in an educational setting.
• Strong commitment to high academic standards and student welfare.
• Ability to build respectful relationships with staff, students and parents.
• Upholds professional ethics and serves as a positive role model.

Required skills

• Knowledge of the National Curriculum for England.
• Proficiency in IELTS 6 or equivalent assessment standards.
• Qualifications such as B.Ed, PGCE, PGDE are preferred.
