Deputy Head of Secondary – August Intake

About the role

GEMS Metropole Al‑Waha in Dubai is seeking an experienced Deputy Head of Secondary to join the Senior Leadership Team for the August 2026 intake. The role supports the Head of School in driving academic excellence, safeguarding, and the school’s sustainability agenda within a fast‑growing international secondary programme.

Key responsibilities

• Promote and monitor high standards of student safeguarding, well‑being and personal development.
• Assist, represent and deputise for the Head of School in day‑to‑day operations and strategic decision‑making.
• Champion the GEMS Core Values and embed a culture of excellence across teaching and learning.
• Lead the development, implementation and review of the School Improvement Plan and self‑evaluation processes.
• Oversee performance management, coaching and mentoring of staff to raise instructional quality.
• Collaborate with senior leaders to ensure inclusive, sustainable and innovative learning environments.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of senior leadership experience in a secondary school setting.
• Relevant teaching qualification such as B.Ed, PGCE or PGDE.
• Proven track record of driving school improvement and managing change.
• Strong commitment to safeguarding, student welfare and inclusive education.
