Director of People Development & Effectiveness

About the role

The Director of People Development & Effectiveness leads SSMC’s people capability, organisational effectiveness and business partnership agenda, ensuring staff are skilled, engaged and empowered to deliver clinical and service excellence. The role owns performance management, high‑potential identification, learning and leadership development, employee wellbeing and the SSMC Way Academy, driving both internal capability and commercial revenue.

Key responsibilities

• Design and continuously improve the performance management framework, linking outcomes to compensation and career progression.
• Lead the High Potential Identification Programme and maintain succession plans for all critical roles, targeting 60% bench strength by FY2027.
• Develop and deliver the Emirati Accelerated Leadership Programme in partnership with DOH, ADEK and UAE hiring bodies.
• Oversee the learning ecosystem, including digital‑first programmes, EduCare and Delta Force platforms, and manage the SSMC Training Academy.
• Expand the Training Academy into the SSMC Way Academy, creating internal cross‑charge, external enrolment and government‑accredited streams.
• Drive employee wellbeing strategy covering physical, mental, financial and occupational health, and monitor wellbeing KPIs such as burnout and engagement scores.
• Lead the People & Organisation Business Partnership team, translating strategy into integrated people plans and providing evidence‑based advice to leaders.
• Build and execute the commercial plan for the SSMC Way Academy, targeting Year 1 revenue of AED 4.5 million while ensuring quality and compliance.
• Champion organisational effectiveness initiatives, including culture surveys, maturity assessments and change‑management interventions.
• Manage the People Development & Effectiveness budget and report on capability, engagement, performance and wellbeing metrics to senior leadership.
