Freelance HSE Officer – Abu Dhabi

About the role

We are looking for a freelance HSE Officer to join our Abu Dhabi project on a short‑term basis. The role involves supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of the project HSE Management System while ensuring day‑to‑day compliance on site.

Key responsibilities

• Support implementation and improvement of HSE policies, plans and procedures in line with company, client and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor daily site activities to ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental standards.
• Conduct regular site inspections, audits and safety observations, identifying hazards and recommending corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain risk assessments, method statements and Permit‑to‑Work processes.
• Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks, HSE briefings and training, maintaining accurate records.
• Track HSE performance, statistics, inspection reports, training records and incident documentation.
• Monitor subcontractor HSE performance and ensure their systems meet project requirements.
• Verify personnel competence and identify additional training needs.
• Assist with inspections of tools, machinery, lifting equipment and PPE for compliance.
• Support emergency preparedness activities, drills and follow‑up actions.
• Investigate accidents, incidents and near‑misses, determine root causes and support corrective measures.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years (60 months) of experience in health, safety and environmental roles, preferably in construction or industrial projects.
• Relevant certifications such as CSP, IOSH and NEBOSH.
• All required documentation, permits and visas to legally work in the United Arab Emirates for the assignment duration.
• Proven ability to work independently in a freelance capacity and manage multiple HSE tasks on site.
