Government Affairs Lead – Middle East (UAE/Saudi Arabia)

About the role

We are looking for a Government Affairs Lead to shape Cohere’s presence across the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The role will drive engagement with ministries, regulators and innovation agencies to influence AI policy, digital transformation and public‑sector procurement.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a government‑affairs strategy for the UAE and Saudi Arabia in alignment with Cohere’s EMEA objectives.
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with ministries, regulators, sovereign entities and innovation agencies.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments affecting artificial‑intelligence, data privacy and digital‑economy initiatives.
• Provide strategic advice to senior leadership on policy trends, risks and opportunities.
• Collaborate with legal, responsible‑AI, communications and commercial teams to ensure coherent public‑policy positioning.
• Represent Cohere at industry forums, government consultations and public‑sector events.

Required profile

• Proven experience in government affairs, public policy or regulatory engagement within the Middle East.
• Deep understanding of AI, digital transformation and public‑sector procurement processes.
• Strong network with government officials and innovation agencies in the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Ability to work closely with senior executives and cross‑functional teams.
