About the role

The school is seeking a dynamic Head of English to lead the English and Literature department at Al Maharat Private School, Abu Dhabi. This senior teaching position will shape the curriculum and inspire students across the high/secondary years.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and continuously improve the English curriculum in line with the UK National Curriculum.
• Lead and manage the English department staff, providing coaching, performance feedback and professional development.
• Monitor and support student progress, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
• Foster a love of literature, language arts and critical thinking among students.
• Integrate educational technology tools to enhance classroom delivery.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field (minimum requirement).
• At least 4 years of teaching experience in an international or British‑curriculum setting.
• Strong knowledge of UK secondary curriculum requirements.
• Proven leadership abilities and experience managing a team.
• Excellent communication skills and a commitment to inclusive education.
