Head of Finance – Dry Bulk Shipping

About the role

The company is a well‑established, internationally active dry bulk shipping group seeking a Head of Finance to be based in Dubai. Reporting to the executive leadership team, you will own the corporate finance and accounting function, ensuring accurate reporting, robust controls and strategic financial support across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the corporate finance and accounting function from the Dubai office.
• Take ownership of timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting, including management accounts and statutory filings.
• Drive budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and cash‑flow management.
• Maintain and enhance financial controls, accounting policies and governance frameworks.
• Collaborate with the executive team on performance reporting and strategic decision‑making.
• Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisers, banks and other professional advisers.
• Oversee treasury, working‑capital and cash‑flow matters.
• Support corporate transactions and strategic initiatives.
• Coordinate with the international finance team across multiple jurisdictions.
• Continuously review and improve financial processes, systems and internal controls.

Required profile

• Extensive finance experience within the shipping or maritime sector, preferably with a shipowner, operator or related maritime group.
• Proven track record in corporate accounting, reporting and financial governance.
• Strong understanding of vessel‑related cost structures, cash‑flow dynamics and fleet financing.
• Ability to work closely with senior leadership and influence strategic decisions.
• Experience managing external advisors and cross‑border finance teams.
