Healthcare Aide - Medical/Surgical

About the role

The Healthcare Aide in the Medical‑Surgical Unit supports nurses and other healthcare professionals to deliver safe, high‑quality patient care. Working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the aide assists adult and geriatric patients with daily living activities, monitors needs, and helps maintain a clean, comfortable environment.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain and document basic patient information, including vital signs, height, weight, and other observations as directed.
• Prepare examination and treatment rooms, ensuring necessary equipment and supplies are available.
• Assist physicians and nurses during examinations, minor procedures, and treatments.
• Support patients with mobility needs and provide comfort measures when required.
• Maintain cleanliness and infection‑control standards in patient care areas.
• Clean, disinfect, and prepare medical equipment according to established protocols.
• Stock and monitor supplies, reporting shortages to the appropriate personnel.
• Escort patients to diagnostic services or other clinic areas as needed.

Required profile

• Works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Provides care for adult and geriatric patients recovering from medical conditions, surgery, or acute illnesses.
