Mechanical Design Engineer II – Gas Turbine Specialist

About the role

POWERTECH, a centre of excellence for propulsion technologies, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer II to lead the design of gas‑turbine components for turbojet and turbofan programmes. The role combines advanced mechanical design, integrity analysis, and mentorship of junior engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Design and optimise static and rotary gas‑turbine systems for life, weight, manufacturability and cost.
• Perform GD&T tasks, define assembly procedures and create manufacturing guidelines.
• Prepare detailed drawings and support FMECA to ensure safety and operability.
• Review simulations, generate testing plans and identify project risks with mitigation strategies.
• Develop junior engineers, provide feedback and support cross‑functional teams.

Required profile

• Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering degree (or related field).
• 5+ years of experience in gas‑turbine propulsion, mechanical design and heat‑transfer analysis.
• Fluent English communication skills.
• Proven experience with gas‑turbine externals, accessories, disks, shafts, couplings and gearboxes.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Solidworks, Siemens NX or similar CAD tools.
• Experience with PLM systems such as Teamcenter or Windchill.
• Knowledge of FEA or other simulation methods.
• Programming skills in C, Matlab/Simulink or equivalent.
• Familiarity with GD&T, FMECA and FRACAS processes.
