Mechanical Engineer – Sewage Treatment Plant (Abu Dhabi)

About the role

Stantec is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead the rehabilitation and expansion of a major Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) in Abu Dhabi. The project aims to boost the plant’s capacity to handle up to 435,000 m³ per day while improving overall efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise construction and civil‑works rehabilitation of the existing STP.
• Manage the extension of the plant to an additional 175,000 m³/day.
• Oversee mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation equipment within the STP and associated pumping stations.
• Optimize operational processes and ensure compliance with project specifications.
• Coordinate with public authorities and other infrastructure projects.
• Handle emergency works and make timely decisions on site.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.
• Minimum 15 years of experience with equipment and control systems in sewage treatment plants.
• Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment, instruments, and infrastructure design.
• Proven ability to manage large‑scale construction and rehabilitation projects.
• Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
