Mechanical Engineer – UAE National

About the role

Wood is seeking UAE National Mechanical Engineers to join its Engineering and Projects team in Sharjah. The role supports the company’s Emiratization goals and is open to fresh graduates as well as engineers with up to ten years of experience in the oil and gas sector.

Key responsibilities

• Design and analyse mechanical systems, including pumps, compressors, turbines, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, storage tanks and utility packages.
• Prepare and review technical specifications, datasheets, engineering calculations and material requisitions.
• Participate in equipment sizing, selection and vendor document reviews to ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Support maintenance, reliability and root‑cause analysis programmes for rotating and static equipment.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams (process, piping, civil, structural, electrical, instrumentation) during FEED, detailed design, procurement, construction, commissioning and start‑up.
• Take part in HAZOP, design reviews, constructability assessments and risk analyses.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering or a related discipline.
• UAE Nationality is mandatory.
• For graduates: strong academic record and any internship or project experience in oil & gas, energy or EPC environments.
• For experienced candidates: 3–10 years of experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, LNG, refinery, offshore, power or industrial projects, with exposure to FEED, brownfield or greenfield studies.
