Neonatology Specialist

About the role

The Neonatology Specialist will provide high‑quality, ethical clinical care to newborn patients in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Nursery of Royal Khalifa City Hospital. The role includes managing clinical risks, ensuring compliance with governance standards, and maintaining accurate medical records while supporting continuous professional development.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive neonatology services, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of newborns.
• Conduct daily rounds in the NICU and Nursery, perform examinations, and order laboratory and radiological investigations.
• Prescribe medications, advise nursing and dietary care, and implement preventive measures.
• Provide in‑patient care for newborns, attend difficult deliveries and cesarean sections, and offer on‑call emergency coverage for neonatal emergencies.
• Consult and refer to other medical services, and serve as an expert resource for neonatology within the hospital.
• Participate in committee meetings, quality‑assurance programs, and development of international guidelines.
• Maintain compliance with Department of Health, JCI, ISO, OSHMS, and other regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Medical degree with board certification or equivalent in Neonatology.
• Commitment to professional ethics, clinical risk management, and continuous learning.
• Ability to maintain accurate medical documentation and adhere to governance standards.
• Willingness to engage in departmental committees, training programs, and quality‑improvement initiatives.
