Owner – Architecture & Urban Design Leader

About the role

The Owner will lead KNOWOS ARQUITECTURA / URBANISMO’s architectural and urban design practice in Dubai. This full‑time, on‑site position shapes the firm’s vision, strategy and day‑to‑day operations while ensuring projects meet client expectations and local regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the overall business and design strategy for the practice.
• Oversee architectural and urban design projects from concept through delivery, ensuring quality and regulatory compliance.
• Lead business development activities, including client acquisition, relationship management and strategic partnerships across the region.
• Supervise multidisciplinary teams, manage budgets, timelines and commercial decisions.
• Represent the firm in meetings with clients, authorities and industry stakeholders.
• Set performance standards, mentor talent and continuously improve processes, tools and services.

Required profile

• Proven experience in architecture and urban planning, leading complex design projects and coordinating with engineering and construction partners.
• Strong business management background – strategic planning, budgeting, resource allocation and operational oversight of a professional services firm.
• Demonstrated ability in client relationship management, negotiation and business development within architecture, construction or real‑estate sectors.
• Knowledge of Dubai and UAE building codes and permitting processes, or a willingness to acquire this expertise quickly.
• Leadership and team‑management skills with a track record of fostering an inclusive, high‑performance culture.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English; additional language skills (e.g., Arabic) are a plus.
• Relevant academic background in Architecture, Urban Planning or a related field; professional registration or licensure preferred.
