Principal Environmental Specialist

About the role

The Principal Environmental Specialist will lead the development and implementation of the company’s Environmental Management System, ensuring compliance with corporate, legislative and client requirements across engineering, construction and operations. Working independently with minimal guidance, the specialist will provide technical and commercial support throughout project lifecycles.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, lead and maintain an ISO‑14001‑aligned Environmental Management System.
• Create and enforce HSES plans, procedures and instructions in line with contracts and regulations.
• Monitor and advise on all environmental matters, including audits, performance monitoring and front‑line inspections.
• Prepare and submit permit applications, renewals and obtain necessary statutory clearances.
• Participate in tendering, subcontractor pre‑qualification and bid evaluation processes.
• Lead investigations, root‑cause analysis and corrective‑action implementation after incidents or non‑compliances.
• Provide SME input to Management of Change (MOC), lessons‑learned and training material.
• Establish and track KPIs, identify regulatory changes and assess their impact on projects.

Required profile

• In‑depth expertise in environmental disciplines within a Health‑Safety‑Environment‑Security (HSES) framework.
• Familiarity with company‑specific HSES terms, requirements and deliverables.
• Ability to work independently and lead functional teams or projects.
