Registered Nurse – Gastroenterology (GI Motility & Procedure)

About the role

The Gastroenterology Motility and Procedure Nurse (RN) provides expert care throughout the patient journey for sophisticated gastrointestinal diagnostic tests. Working closely with gastroenterologists, the nurse ensures accurate test performance, patient safety, and high‑quality education and support.

Key responsibilities

• Perform and assist with gastrointestinal motility studies, including oesophageal manometry, pH impedance, anorectal manometry, rectal compliance, and sensation testing.
• Administer breath tests (Glucose/Lactulose and Gastric Emptying) following approved protocols.
• Provide pre‑ and post‑procedure support for Colon Capsule Endoscopy and Small Bowel Capsule Endoscopy, including bowel preparation verification and data processing.
• Monitor patients’ vital signs, physical and emotional wellbeing throughout procedures and recovery, and respond promptly to complications.
• Educate patients and families on procedure preparation, dietary modifications, and medication adjustments.
• Coordinate with referring physicians to verify orders, review patient history, ensure test appropriateness, and manage scheduling.

Required profile

• UAE DHA license (or equivalent) and registration as a Registered Nurse from Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand or Australia.
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (minimum two‑year program).
• Minimum two years of experience in a hospital or similar setting.

Required skills

• Proficiency with gastrointestinal motility equipment (oesophageal manometry, pH impedance, anorectal manometry, rectal compliance, sensation testing).
• Experience administering and interpreting breath tests.
• Knowledge of capsule endoscopy procedures and data analysis.
• Ability to monitor vital signs and manage patient safety during procedures.
