Registered Nurse – Operating Theatre

About the role

The Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse to work in the Operating Theatre (OT). The role involves providing and coordinating patient care, educating patients and families about health conditions, and supporting the surgical team throughout peri‑operative processes.

Key responsibilities

• Provide and coordinate patient care, educate patients and families about health conditions, and offer emotional support.
• Perform systematic patient assessments, determine nursing diagnoses, and develop care plans with the interprofessional team.
• Monitor vital signs, recognize and escalate abnormalities, and maintain clinical skills.
• Prepare patients for surgery, ensure correct patient and site identification, and conduct pre‑operative checklists.
• Assist as scrub and circulating nurse, maintain aseptic technique, and count surgical items according to safety protocols.
• Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and provide wound care management.
• Perform essential life support including BLS, PALS, ACLS, and Neonatal Resuscitation.

Required profile

• Hold a valid license to practice as a registered nurse with the relevant UAE health authority.
• Maintain professional re‑licensure and hold a current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certification.
• Willingness to work across departments and communicate clearly in English (spoken and written).
• Demonstrated ability to work within an inter‑professional team and use electronic medical record systems for documentation (desirable).
• Ability to communicate effectively in Arabic (desirable).

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
• Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation.
• Medication administration and IV therapy.
• Wound care management.
• Aseptic technique and operating‑room attire compliance.
• Patient monitoring and vital signs assessment.
• Surgical item counting and “time‑out” safety protocols.
