Respiratory Therapist - Pediatric

About the role

The Pediatric Respiratory Therapist provides direct patient care and performs respiratory and basic cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures for neonatal, paediatric and adult patients in accordance with hospital policies and international accreditation standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform basic cardiopulmonary diagnostic tests, pulmonary function testing and polysomnography studies following clinical policies.
• Respond to emergencies and deliver BLS, ACLS, PALS and NRP as prescribed by physicians.
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments before, during and after each procedure and document findings in the EMR.
• Operate, calibrate and troubleshoot respiratory equipment, ventilators, blood‑gas analyzers and monitoring devices.
• Prepare and submit preliminary diagnostic reports for review by medical consultants.
• Maintain infection control by disinfecting equipment and disposing of single‑use supplies after each patient.

Required profile

• Ability to perform BLS, ACLS, PALS and Neonatal Resuscitation Program interventions when required.
• Capability to conduct thorough patient assessments and communicate critical findings promptly to the attending physician.

Required skills

• Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) and Polysomnography (PSG) operation.
• Blood gas sampling and analysis (arterial, venous, capillary).
• Ventilator management (invasive and non‑invasive).
• Oxygen therapy delivery (low flow, high flow, heated high‑flow nasal cannula).
• Aerosol therapy using nebulizers and metered‑dose inhalers.
• Chest physiotherapy and bronchial hygiene techniques.
• Artificial airway management and arterial line sampling.
