Senior Accountant – Abu Dhabi

About the role

Syntex MEP is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant for its Abu Dhabi office. The role involves managing the full spectrum of accounting activities, ensuring compliance with UAE regulations, and providing strategic financial insights to support business decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations and manage accounts payable/receivable.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Ensure compliance with UAE financial regulations, accounting standards and VAT requirements.
• Manage budgets, forecast financial performance and control expenses.
• Process payroll in line with UAE labour laws.
• Perform bank reconciliations and maintain cash flow.
• Lead month‑end and year‑end closing activities.
• Coordinate VAT returns and liaise with external auditors.
• Develop and implement internal controls and financial policies.
• Analyse financial data and present recommendations to management.
• Supervise and review work of junior accounting staff.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Senior Accountant or in a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Experience with UAE VAT, audits and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent command of English.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
