Senior Financial Lines Underwriter

About the role

The Senior Underwriter for Financial Lines will lead the growth and profitability of a corporate portfolio across the UAE and GCC, focusing on Directors & Officers, Errors & Omissions, Commercial Crime, Fidelity Guarantee, Cyber, and especially Professional Indemnity and SPPI lines.

Key responsibilities

• Independently analyse complex, high‑value corporate risks using actuarial data, financial statements, trade histories and technical inspection reports.
• Develop and apply risk‑pricing models to meet loss‑ratio and premium targets.
• Draft, review and negotiate specialised policy wordings, clauses, endorsements and warranties.
• Make underwriting decisions within delegated authority and escalate out‑of‑scope risks.
• Source and negotiate facultative reinsurance for large‑capacity or high‑hazard placements.
• Collaborate with brokers to secure target accounts and create custom portfolio programmes.
• Work with actuaries and finance teams to monitor loss ratios, operating metrics and accumulation exposures.
• Partner with claims to incorporate litigation trends into underwriting guidelines.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Risk Management, Law or a related field.
• Significant experience underwriting Financial Lines, particularly Professional Indemnity and SPPI.
• Proven track record of managing profitable, compliant corporate portfolios in the UAE/GCC market.
