Senior Lecturer – General Education

About the role

The General Education Unit is seeking a Senior Lecturer to deliver the GENS 101 Grand Challenges course. The role focuses on interdisciplinary teaching that connects science and engineering to real‑world sustainability and societal issues.

Key responsibilities

• Teach and coordinate the GENS 101 Grand Challenges course, covering problem formulation, hypothesis testing, and project‑based learning.
• Develop course materials, assessments, and collaborative project activities.
• Supervise student projects and lead multidisciplinary student teams.
• Incorporate ethical, social, economic, and environmental considerations into course content.
• Maintain and update learning platforms such as Blackboard.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in a relevant science or engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
• Minimum eight years of relevant teaching experience at a recognized, top‑tier institution.
• Experience teaching in the UAE is valued.
• Strong multidisciplinary background in science and/or engineering.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise student projects and lead teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Experience using Blackboard learning management system.
• Familiarity with CATME team formation and assessment tool.
