Senior Manager – Environment, Health & Safety

About the role

Julphar is seeking an experienced Senior Manager – Environment, Health & Safety to lead the EHS agenda across its Ras Al Khaimah manufacturing campus. The role provides strategic and operational leadership to ensure safe, responsible operations in compliance with UAE and Ras Al Khaimah regulations and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the site EHS strategy, objectives and improvement roadmap aligned with business priorities and ISO 45001/14001 standards.
• Provide visible EHS leadership to manufacturing, engineering, quality, supply chain and other functions, fostering a prevention‑focused culture.
• Lead risk management, including task risk assessments, HAZID, HAZOP and other structured techniques for occupational, environmental and process‑safety hazards.
• Own critical safety programs such as Permit‑to‑Work, Lockout/Tagout, electrical, machine, hot work, confined‑space and contractor safety.
• Oversee chemical and process safety, hazardous material handling, Management of Change and pre‑startup safety reviews.
• Manage occupational health and industrial hygiene programs, including exposure monitoring and health‑surveillance.
• Direct environmental management of waste, emissions, spills and resource efficiency initiatives.
• Ensure emergency preparedness, incident investigation, root‑cause analysis and corrective action implementation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Chemistry or related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years progressive EHS experience, preferably in pharmaceutical or regulated manufacturing.
• At least 5 years in senior EHS leadership overseeing a multi‑building site.
• Professional EHS qualification (NEBOSH, CMIOSH, CSP) strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of UAE EHS regulations and experience interacting with authorities.
• Experience with GMP‑regulated pharmaceutical environments is highly desirable.
