Senior Principal HSE Engineer – Design Safety (EPC Detailed Engineering)

About the role

The Senior Principal HSE Engineer will lead design‑safety activities within EPC detailed engineering projects, ensuring health, safety and environmental standards are integrated from concept through execution. Reporting to senior management, the role combines technical expertise with strategic problem‑solving to influence project direction and resource allocation.

Key responsibilities

• Perform conceptual, FEED and detailed design analyses in line with project specifications, design codes and standards.
• Develop innovative, reliable and cost‑effective HSE solutions for complex engineering challenges.
• Lead large multidisciplinary engineering teams, planning resources, schedules and budgets to meet project objectives.
• Coordinate discipline execution, manage scope, deliverables and manpower allocations with the Discipline Manager.
• Act as the HSE discipline representative in meetings with project teams, clients, certifying authorities and auditors.
• Identify and address contractual and inter‑discipline requirements early, ensuring compliance and corrective actions when needed.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in HSE engineering within EPC or large‑scale construction projects.
• Proven ability to solve highly complex technical problems and influence senior stakeholders.
• Strong leadership skills with experience directing large engineering teams.
• Excellent communication skills to explain complex ideas and manage objections.
