Senior Principal Piping Designer

About the role

The Senior Principal Piping Designer will lead the piping design discipline on complex projects, ensuring high‑quality deliverables that meet safety, constructability and operational requirements. Working autonomously within McDermott’s standards, you will guide multidisciplinary teams through Pre‑FEED, FEED and detailed design phases.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain clash‑free 3D piping models in coordination with all disciplines.
• Lead the design team to deliver packages on schedule and within budget, adhering to McDermott and project‑specific procedures.
• Act as the primary discipline point of contact for clients, vendors and subcontractors.
• Coordinate interdisciplinary design reviews and ensure timely closure of comments.
• Support the Lead Piping Engineer in progress tracking and productivity measurement.
• Oversee designers’ performance appraisals and contribute to strategic team development.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in piping design, preferably in oil & gas or large‑scale industrial projects.
• Proven ability to lead and mentor multidisciplinary design teams.
• Strong understanding of Pre‑FEED, FEED and detailed design processes.
• Excellent judgment for innovative and cost‑effective solutions.
