Senior Quality Inspector – Welding & Coating

About the role

Petrofac is seeking a Senior Quality Inspector to oversee welding and coating activities on its Abu Dhabi site. The role involves monitoring fabrication, installation, erection and testing of process piping, steel structures, tanks, vessels and other metallic items to ensure compliance with project specifications and standards.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and report on fabrication, installation, erection and testing processes for process piping, steel structures, tanks, vessels and metallic items.
• Review Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) and weld maps.
• Witness welder qualifications and ensure welding consumables are stored, handled and traced correctly.
• Maintain welding consumable control system and ensure welding equipment is serviceable and calibrated.
• Conduct timely inspections during fabrication and construction, including visual and dimensional checks.
• Monitor welding process parameters for compliance with approved procedures and project specifications.
• Perform in‑process and final visual inspections and prepare/review inspection reports (fit‑up, final visual).
• Review test reports, including PWHT charts/records, to verify compliance.
• Prepare and review daily welding reports.
• Ensure coating work complies with weather conditions, manufacturer instructions, MSDS and material traceability.
• Monitor contractor performance and verify that personnel are qualified, competent and hold valid certifications.

Required profile

• Experience in quality inspection of welding and coating processes on industrial projects.
• Familiarity with relevant standards and specifications for welding and coating.
• Ability to assess qualifications of welding personnel and verify equipment calibration.
