Senior Structural Engineer – Road & Bridge Projects

About the role

AECOM is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead inspection and quality assurance activities for road and bridge projects across the UAE. You will ensure that all structural works meet RTA specifications, international standards, and project requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and evaluate structural and road inspectors, ensuring compliance with approved ITPs and RTA specifications.
• Develop, implement and maintain QA/QC procedures, Inspection & Test Plans and checklists for bridges, underpasses, culverts, retaining walls, shoring systems and other highway structures.
• Review and approve shop drawings, method statements and material submittals.
• Coordinate and inspect foundation and sub‑structure works such as piling, pile caps, abutments, piers and box culverts.
• Monitor progress, report status and risks, and provide technical input for sequencing and recovery plans.
• Ensure compliance of road‑related structural works including pavements, concrete barriers, crash barriers, sign gantries and lighting foundations.
• Manage interfaces with utilities, MEP services, drainage and temporary works to avoid conflicts.
• Identify non‑conformances, issue NCRs and oversee corrective actions.
• Maintain inspection records, test results and as‑built documentation for project close‑out.

Required profile

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering.
• 10–16 years of experience on RTA projects in the UAE.
• Minimum 5–8 years of UAE experience; RTA or DM approval preferred.
• Proven ability to lead junior engineers and inspectors.

Required skills

• Structural engineering design and inspection.
